Our Mission
The ½ÄÏÌåÓý Counseling Center assists students in the accomplishment of tasks that are essential to their personal and educational development. The Center's programming is designed to facilitate students' retention and graduation by providing quality, time-effective services: through individual and group counseling; outreach services; individual, organizational, and departmental consultation; crisis intervention; training; and research.
Counseling Center staff are involved in community building, prevention, and education, and thus collaborate and consult with other departments to improve the interrelationships of all areas of this urban college. To this end, the Center promotes the understanding and integration of multicultural issues and African American Psychology in all services and programs. The Center is dedicated to building a college community that permits all its members to grow and to be successful in an environment of equity, respect, and inclusion. What We Do
The ½ÄÏÌåÓý Counseling Services Department strives to provide the highest quality of care in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment. Our team of counselors and psychologists is equipped to provide a wide range of services to facilitate and empower the mental health and wealth of ½ÄÏÌåÓý students. Our services include:
Morehouse Mental Health Ambassador Program
The Morehouse Mental Health Ambassador Program (MMAP) is a peer-to-peer model of support for the mental health needs of the students and educators of ½ÄÏÌåÓý. This program allows educators and students to learn and be equipped with the knowledge needed to recognize mental health vulnerabilities in themselves and in their peers, relate and identify expressed needs, and make appropriate referrals to Counseling Services, or to a resource within the Community.
Collaboration & Outreach Requests
We appreciate you taking the time to encourage mental health education among the ½ÄÏÌåÓý community. At this time, we do not provide interviews for class projects.
After submitting a request, a staff member will contact you. If you have not heard from us within five business days, feel free to give us a call at 470-639-0231.
Please note, we require that requests be made three weeks in advance of the anticipated event date to ensure staffing availability.
